The woman at the well seemed surprised that Jesus knew she wasn’t married to the guy she lived with. Hello! She was talking to the creator of the world. How come she was surprised, that this guy, might know everything about her. Of course, we would never act like that, would we? I mean, we wouldn’t go to school or college, give grief to the geeks, and then go to church and talk about reaching out to those that don’t know Jesus. I mean, not only would that be hypocritical, but Jesus would have seen us do both things, wouldn’t he? We wouldn’t do that, because it would be a bit mad not expecting the creator of the world not to spot the difference in our actions. Yep, sometimes, it’s actually fairly hard to make our actions be consistent throughout the week. But knowing that Jesus sees into our hearts, can be a useful reminder during the week, and a blessing when we really do stuff up. Jesus being all knowing, means that when we are inconsistent with our actions and do stuff up, he knows that our hearts really mean it, when we say sorry.
