Probably one of the smaller chapters of the Bible, but man what a message. Who’s king? Who rules the universe? Not that guy at school who gives you grief, no they are not King. Not that adult that can’t see the things you do right and concentrates only the stuff you muck up on. No they do not rule the universe. The Lord our God is King. The God that sent his son to die for you, is King of the universe. You are literally mates with the King of kings. How cool is that? Sometimes we can miss that our God is a majestic, perfect King. We are so chuffed that he cares for us, that we concentrate on the fact his is our friend, and miss the fact that he is also our regal King. Sometimes in the business of school, college and work, we forget that we are living out lives for the King of eternity. Maybe we need to hear and repeat that our God is King more often.

Silence Is Not Always Golden – Psalm 4

Posted by admin on July 12th, 2007

The guy who wrote this song to God is speaking a very plain truth. He is answering the question that I ask all the time, when I ask God to speak to me. So often I say things like, why can’t I hear God, why doesn’t God guide me? This guy obviously talks to God, and he has heard from God, this guy has taken the time to build a relationship with God. Remember that first day at school, how strange it seemed and how little you knew everyone. Remember that first time in college when conversations seemed all a little bit short. Now of course you bundle into school or college and just start yacking to the first mate that turns up. There are no longer awkward silences and you have learned all the little strange ways that your mates speak. Now you have built relationships with your mates because you speak to them every day. It’s not that I or you, can’t hear from God. It’s not that anyone else is super spiritual and can hear better from God. God wants to talk to all of us, if only we would take the time to speak to him and build a relationship. If we speak to God everyday like we do our mates then we will stop having awkward silences, and we will learn all the little strange ways that God speaks to us.

Overwhelmed – Psalm 3

Posted by admin on July 1st, 2007

Overwhelmed sums up how I feel sometimes with all the stuff that is going on around me. I’m overwhelmed with all that I have to do at work; is it the same for you at school or college? I’m overwhelmed with all that my family want me to be; is it the same for you and your family? I’m overwhelmed with all that my friends want me to do, is it the same for you and your friends? I’m overwhelmed with all that God wants me to be; is it the same for you? I do feel that all the things I have to do are popping up like enemies in a never-ending computer game. As soon as I do one thing, as soon as I kill one computer-generated enemy, another comes after me. That is not what God promises or God wants. If I look at all these things that I must do and think they are things I must do to please God then I have missed the point. Jesus died for me and for you on the Cross, because it doesn’t matter what we do, we could never do enough. God doesn’t want us to do stuff; so much as he wants us to love him. If we put God first and spend time with him, then do what our friends, family and work want us to do, will fall into place. When ever we you feel overwhelmed then stop and pray to your God, because as this psalm, says “Real help comes from God”
