Thirsty? No drink will fulfil you like this guy. Seeking acceptance at school? No gang is going to accept you for who you are like this guy. Moving from one date to another looking for love? No one will love you like this guy. We could go on for ever. All of your mates and in-fact everyone at your school or college is looking for something. They are all seeking to fill a gap. They might look to fill the gap with drugs, they might try to fill it with alcohol, they may even try to fill the missing portion of their life with sex. But the truth is, just like the woman at the well if they fill the gap for a short time they will fill emptier tomorrow. It’s doesn’t get any different when you become an adult either, money, power they are all a short term fix. Seems to me if we can work out that nothing can fill the gap in our lives like Jesus can, then we can save ourselves whole lot of pain. If we ask Jesus to help us, then we don’t have to suffer the after effects of reliance on some short term fix.
