Coming through loud and clear. That’s how I see the message Jesus is giving in this passage. It doesn’t matter what translation of the Bible you read the facts are clear and to the point. God loved the world so much that he sent Jesus to die for them. That’s clear. God loves you, God loves your mates, God loves your enemies, Gods loves the cool kid at school, God loves the geek at college, God loves the world. So what next? Whoever believes and trusts in Jesus, will not be found guilty when judged. So that’s clear. If the homeless guy believes in Jesus, he will party in heaven with, the rich guy who believes, the ex-druggy who believes, the person who gives you grief at school but later turns to Jesus, or anyone in the world who believes. Yep that’s clear, they all get to party in Heaven because they turn to Jesus and believe and trust in him. And everyone else? Well Jesus is pretty clear on that too. Anyone who chooses not believe in Jesus, doesn’t get to spend forever with him either. After all, why would God force people to stay with him in Heaven, when they made their own choice not to on Earth? So that guy at school who chooses not believe, will not be with Jesus in Heaven, nor that really good person down the road, who chooses not to believe, not even someone who seems to live the perfect life if they choose not to believe. No it’s not about what we do that matters, it’s about what Jesus did and how we recognise what he did. There are some pretty hard facts to take in, but Jesus never shied away from telling the truth loud and clear. No, they are the facts and they are coming through loud and clear.
