You think those that look after you give you hassle. Here was Jesus chilling at a party and his mum says come on they are running out of wine. Ohh muuuum says Jesus just let me be, it is not the time to let these people know I am the Son of God yet. But even Jesus listened to his mum. Even Jesus did what his mother asked him to do and turned the water into wine. There is an uncomfortable truth here. If the creator of the universe was humble enough to listen to his mother, that puts us in an awkward situation. What do we do when our parents ask us to do stuff? This is only going one place and I am not entirely sure I am happy about it. There is another problem I have as well, because God put another reminder in the ten commandments, something about honouring parents. Surely this message can’t be consistent can it? And then there is that moment that Jesus is on the cross and one of the last people he makes sure is OK on this planet is his mum. Yep, seems that there is little we can do about, Jesus wants us to respect those who look after us. Oh noooooo.
