Thirty Days - Daniel 1 9-21

Posted by admin on August 14th, 2007

Honour God and he will honour us. Daniel stepped out and did what he thought God wanted him to do and he was rewarded over and over again. He might have thought that living on vegetables was not his idea of a good time, but he felt that for him it was right to do. Gods like that, when we do what is correct in his eyes, he rewards us. Often the thought of what we need to do is worse then the actual action. In the same way as when you are sitting at home and it’s raining outside the idea of going for a run is one of the last things you want to do. But if you do go for a run, running in the rain is often nicer then running in the sun, and afterwards you feel great. Maybe the thought of giving up an hour a week to go to a small group of mates to learn more about God may seem dull. But once you go you faith will grow as you and they encourage one another. The idea of helping the old woman down the road seems a bit of a bind, but you know God has asked us to look after widows and orphans. Do you think God might smile down on you if he sees you living out what Jesus said? A friend of mine once said that doing something for thirty days makes it a habit. Daniel only asked for ten days to prove that God would honour his commitment, imagine what God could do with thirty days. Is there something that you feel God would have you do? Maybe it’s making a habit of talking to that guy at school or college that know one else speaks to? Maybe it’s as simple as encouraging your leaders or parents. Give it the thirty-day test and not only will it become a habit, but I believe God will respond as well.
